We can share the records manually with Users, Public Groups, Roles, and Roles and Subordinates. But sometimes, when users try to share records manually with Roles, the Roles do not pop up. In this post, we will see the reason why the roles are not visible while sharing records manually.

We can go to the Record details page and click on Sharing button to share records manually. But sometimes Roles do not pop up while sharing records manually after entering search text like below:
In the above screenshot, I am searching for Marketing Team Role after clicking on the Sharing button from the Record details page.
Roles Not Visible While Sharing Records Manually
The reason for this is due to the new permission recently introduced by Salesforce. On the Profile or Permission Set, search for View Roles and Role Hierarchy. If roles are not visible when you click on Sharing button and try to search the Roles, this checkbox must be unchecked.
Edit the Profile/Permission Set and check the View Roles and Role Hierarchy checkbox. Click Save. Then try to share the record again and you should be able to search the Roles.
